MRSA Bacteraemia Rate:
The MRSA bacteraemia infection rate is calcualted as a rate per 1,000 patient days.  The numerator is the total number of newly identified cases of MRSA bacteraemia associated with the hospital for the quarterly reporting period and the denominator is the toal number of patient days for that same period.  The rate is as follows:

Total number of patient days
