Tertiary Care Division

The Tertiary Care Division of the Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene assists the seriously mentally ill in maximizing client wellness and quality of life through comprehensive, specialized inpatient and outreach mental health programs and services; education and consultation to health professionals; leadership in the promotion of evidence-based care; and promoting the needs of clients with complex Mental Health Care issues.

The Tertiary Care Division is committed to serving those individuals who have been diagnosed with a complex, serious mental illness.; having continuing multiple and complex needs which cannot be met at the primary and secondary levels of service.   While these illnesses may be more difficult to treat or manage & may require a higher level of support, our goal is to transition clients into the community.  Services are provided on four distinct programs to achieve change in severe, dysfunctional behaviours and include:

Geriatric Services Program - older clients with a mental health problem including complex, cognitive impairment and/or complicated by a medical illness.

Bayview Dual Diagnosis Program - clients with a developmental delay and a mental health problem.

Georgianwood Concurrent Disordered Program - Clients with a substance use issue and mental health problems.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program - Severe and Persistently Mentally Ill and Behaviourally Disordered clients who require extensive and ongoing rehabilitative support.

The Tertiary Care Division offers inpatient, outpatient, outreach and consultation services.
