Volunteer Services
Volunteer Services assists both inpatients and outpatients to reduce isolation, enhance quality of life, promote physical and mental well-being of patients, recognize each person as an individual and reduce stigma, provide opportunities to connect with the community and support the Volunteer Association to raise and disperse funds for patient activities.
Volunteers who are interested in assisting people who have a mental illness are offered direct and in-direct care opportunities that include:
- pet therapy
- spiritual care visitors
- entertainers
- one-to-one visitors
- activity assistants
- income tax assistants
Volunteers are recruited using Best Practice Guidelines, are provided with training and orientation prior to an assignment and receive further support, learning and supervision via a staff mentor.
